A man suspected of robbery and several other offences is due to appear in court next month.
Andrew Noble, 39, of no fixed address, is also alleged to have robbed Dan Barlett of a bicycle in Liverpool Gardens, in Worthing, on Friday 7 June.
Noble has been charged with assaulting two police officers – PC Cordery and PC Huburn – and threatening their colleague PC Bloomfield and an NHS paramedic.
Sussex Police said this afternoon (Monday 17 June): “A man has been charged with multiple offences after police responded to an incident in Worthing town centre.
“Andrew Noble was arrested in Marine Parade on the afternoon of Monday 10 June after he was identified and located by PCSOs on patrol.
“It followed a report of a robbery in Liverpool Gardens three days earlier, on Friday 7 June, which he was the suspect for.
“He was subsequently charged with the robbery. He was further charged with the following offences on Monday 10 June.
- Possession of cannabis
- Two counts of assault of an emergency worker (two police officers)
- Two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress
- Using racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress
- Criminal damage to a hospital bed
“Noble was remanded in custody to appear before a court – location yet to be confirmed – on Wednesday 10 July.”
