Four men were arrested within 48 hours as police cracked down on anti-social behaviour.
Sussex Police said that one of the men was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and causing a disturbance in a shopping precinct in Littlehampton High Street.
He was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour causing someone else harassment, alarm or distress.
The man, a 39-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested after police were called to Littlehampton High Street at about 5pm on Sunday 28 April.
Officers also held the man on suspicion of two common assaults. He was released on bail, pending further inquiries.
Sussex Police said that, in the early hours of the same day, officers arrested a man on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle in nearby St Floras Road.
Daniel Bayley, 50, of Cedar Drive, Chichester, was charged with failing to provide a breath test. He was bailed and is due to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 14 May).
Also in Littlehampton, the force said: “Officers entered a property in Old Market Lane on Monday 29 April when they saw a man acting suspiciously.
“He proceeded to run away from police, before being located in an alleyway near the property. Officers then detained him for a … search.
“Jonathan Neiland, 42, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assaulting a police constable and resisting arrest. He was later charged.
“He is due to appear before a court to be fixed on Tuesday 28 May.”
Sussex Police said that officers spotted a 31-year-old man who was wanted on warrant as they were patrolling in Littlehampton on Monday 29 April. He was arrested.
The force added: “Officers from our Neighbourhood Policing Team have been working hard to make the town safe.”
