London singer/songwriter Iraina Mancini creates a chic brand of pop inspired by psychedelia, retro-soul, yé-yé, vintage cinema, and other esoteric traditions. After leading her own electronic band, Mancini, she worked as both a model and DJ who specialized in genres like Northern Soul and Latin Boogaloo in the late 2000s. Mancini began her solo career in the early 2020s, fusing her myriad influences into a distinctive sound of her own on singles like ‘Do It (You Stole The Rhythm)’ and ‘Undo The Blue’, the latter of which became the title for her 2023 full-length debut.
Our reviewer Martin J. Fuller was so inspired by Iraina’s work, that he took off Thursday 13th July 2023 from work and got himself on a train to London and then on a tube to The Lexington in order to watch her live. Sadly we didn’t actually review that night, but we will be this time around as Iraina has announced four select dates for next month, these being in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and then here in Brighton at The Hope & Ruin on Friday 10th May courtesy of local promoters Love Thy Neighbour.
If you are not aware of Iraina’s releases then the best place to start is on her Bandcamp page HERE.
