The official Twitter feed said” “Due to an obstruction on the track between Southampton Central and Chichester the line towards Chichester is blocked.

Later Southern added” ” Following an obstruction on the track earlier today between Portsmouth Harbour and Chichester all lines towards Chichester have reopened. Trains running to / from these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised while service recovery is underway.

They subsequently advised that a points failure was creating more delays: “Unfortunately a further issue along the same area has occurred, a points failure between Fratton and Havant This will affect services to/from London Victoria and Portsmouth Harbour. Some services may be terminated

“Please continue to allow plenty of extra time to travel today, and check live journey planners and restarted from Bognor Regis or Chichester.
