A man who left a handwritten note at his former partner’s home in breach of a restraining order has been jailed.
Joseph Gardner-Whiles, 33, repeatedly breached the order which banned him from contacting his ex when he was convicted of threatening and wounding her in September 2023.
But within months, he had breached it by sending her the handwritten letter in May 2024. He spoke to her again in November and gestured at her a week after that.
At Hove Crown Court this month, he was jailed for eight months.
Gardner-Whiles, of Lustrells Close, Saltdean, had also admitted damaging a Ford Transit van belonging to a roofer called Stacey Gosden in Bannings Vale, Saltdean.
Investigating officer PC Fisher said: “We take all reports of domestic abuse very seriously and will do everything in our power to help support victims of abuse and violence.
“This includes supporting victims through the court process and looking at ways to help safeguard them from further harm.”
