A Bognor conman who used social media to groom a young teenage girl is facing jail after a jury found him guilty of sexually communicating with a child.
Sacha Dixey, 47, who has previously been convicted of fraud for running a heat pump scam, used a fake name to chat with the 13-year-old girl.
The social media platform he talked to her on flagged she was 13 on multiple occasions during their conversation, which happened netween 10 November 2021 and 22 November 2021.
Dixey posed as a 39-year-old man from London and sent several selfies of himself, including a sexual image.
He also made sexual comments towards the child profile.
Following an investigation, officers traced the messages to Dixey’s address in Mayfield Close. He was arrested on 30 November, 2021.
He was later charged with sexual communications with a child and arranging and facilitating sexual offences with a child.
Dixey blamed the offending on another man who he insisted had been staying with him.
It was also heard that the username Dixey used for the offending matched another of his associates.
Investigator Rose Horan said: “Dixey was prepared to use the names of his associates rather than admit his guilt. He is now a convicted sex offender.
“If you have been a victim of a crime, contact us online or call 101. Always call 999 if it is an emergency.”
Dixey pleaded not guilty to the offences but following a four-day trial which began on 28 October at Lewes Crown Court, he was found guilty by the jury.
He is due to be sentenced on 12 December at Lewes Crown Court.
