Two pedestrians were badly hurt in a crash involving a van at the weekend and both remain in hospital.
Sussex Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after two pedestrians were seriously injured in a collision in Copthorne.
“A grey Vauxhall Vivaro van was travelling southbound on Copthorne Bank on a right-hand bend, near to Francis Court Care Home, when the incident occurred about 9.55am on Saturday 18 May.
“The pedestrians – a 77-year-old local man and a 68-year-old local woman – were both taken to hospital for treatment where they remain in a stable condition.
“The driver of the van – an 80-year-old man from Horley in Surrey – was uninjured.
“An investigation is under way and anyone who saw what happened or captured the incident on CCTV or dashcam is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting Operation Wicker.
“Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with CCTV covering Copthorne Bank north of the allotments or Redehall Road south of Smallfield village.”
