Trains between Haywards Heath and Brighton severely delayed this evening (May 1)

The problem is signal failures in the Haywards Heath and Wivelsfield area

Services between Haywards Heath and Brighton are being severely delayed because multiple signal failures in the Haywards Heath and Wivelsfield area, according to reports on Twitter/X. Passengers are advised that services to and from London Victoria and Brighton will be delayed by up to 30 minutes. Services between Bedford and Cambridge will also be delayed by up to half an hour because of the fault.

⚠️Due to a fault with the signalling system between Haywards Heath and Wivelsfield the line towards Brighton and the coast is blocked

Passengers have been advised that they can use tickets at no extra cost on:

  • London Underground via any reasonable route
  • Alternative Southern/Thameslink services via any reasonable route
  • Southeastern between London and Tonbridge/Hastings
  • Great Western Railway between Gatwick/Redhill
  • Metrobus services
