A Worthing man has been charged with having a knuckleduster and two knives in a public place as well as strangling a woman and making threats to kill.
Lee Dyton, 35, also faces charges of assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH), engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour and having cannabis.
Dyton, of no fixed address, appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday (11 December).
He will spend Christmas and the new year behind bars after he was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Monday 8 January.
Sussex Police said: “Police in Worthing have charged a man with multiple violent and weapons offences against a local woman.
“Officers were called to Ashacre Lane, in Worthing, on Friday evening (8 December) after a woman in her thirties reported being threatened by a man.
“Lee Dyton, 35, of no fixed address, was arrested nearby and found to be in possession of a knuckle duster and two knives.
“He appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday 11 December, charged with two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour, making threats to kill, two counts of possession of a knife in a public place, possession of an offensive weapon in public and possession of a class B drug (cannabis).
“Dyton was remanded in custody to appear at a court to be confirmed on Monday 8 January 2024.”
