A serial shoplifter has been jailed for stealing goods worth more than £2,000 in breach of a court order made after similar previous offences.
Sussex Police said: “A 39-year-old woman has been jailed for 12 months for prolific shoplifting in Worthing.
“Karlie Everson, 39, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Friday 8 May.
“During her roughly four-month spree between 17 November 2025 and Thursday 7 May 2026, she stole over £2,200 worth of goods.
“Everson stole coffee, steak and other meat products, butter, cheese, washing up liquids, laundry items, often taking hundreds of pounds worth of goods at a time, including £412 worth of beauty gift sets on one occasion.
“She was arrested and charged on Thursday 7 May with 19 counts of theft from a shop and 19 counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order and remanded in custody.
“The next day (Friday 8 May) Everson appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court where she pleaded guilty to all offences.
“She was jailed for 12 months and ordered to pay £272 court costs.”
