A man has been charged with raping a woman he met in a bar, Sussex Police said today (Wednesday 31 January).

Hastings magistrates have bailed the man to appear before a crown court judge next month.

Sussex Police said: “Police in Hastings have charged a man with rape.

“A woman in her twenties reported being raped by a man she met in a bar in George Street, Hastings, on the evening of Sunday 1 May, 2022.

“She reported it to police the next day and was supported by specialist officers while an investigation was launched.

“Marcus Page, 25, of Claremont, in Hastings, was arrested on the day the incident was reported and subsequently charged with rape.

“He has been released on conditional court bail, to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday 7 February.”
