Two people a flat over a barber’s shop when an arsonist set the front door of the premises alight.
Sussex Police issued an appeal for witnesses as they started an investigation into the blaze.
The door was set alight at the shop in Endwell Road, Bexhill, shortly before 10pm last night (Friday 17 April).
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service put out the blaze which began in the doorway of the shop.
Sussex Police said: “Two people in the flat above the barbers escaped without injury and were checked over by paramedics at the scene.”
Detective Inspector Mors Lambert said: “We are carrying out inquiries and are keen to hear from any witnesses or from anyone has any relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
