A carpenter has denied encouraging terrorism by posting calls to kill immigrants and Muslims on X.
Thomas Smith, 33, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court this morning charged with seven counts of encouraging terrorism.
The court was told the charges relate to posts made on X in November and December by a prolific account which encouraged people to kill immigrants, Muslims and people who aren’t white.
The Crown says these posts are inspired by extremist right-wing ideology.
The account has since been deleted.
Smith, of Blakes Way, Eastbourne, did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody ahead of his first appearance at crown court on 16 January.
He was arrested by Counter Terror Policing South East officers along with three other people last Thursday in raids in Eastbourne and Brighton.
The other three – a 27-year-old woman from Hailsham, and two other men from Eastbourne aged 36 and 41 – have all been released with no further action.
