The fire service is investigating an overnight blaze that damaged a bungalow just a few hundred yards from the grounds of a hospital.
Crews from five fire stations were sent to tackle the blaze in Cedar Close, a cul de sac close to the Conquest Hospital, in Hastings.
The alarm was raised with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service at 2.53am today (Thursday 1 May).
The fire service said: “At the height of the incident, there were five fire appliances, the command unit and aerial ladder platform.”
Crews were sent from The Ridge and Bohemia Road fire stations, in Hastings, as well as Bexhill, Broad Oak and Eastbourne.
The fire service said: “Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose-reel jets, two main jets and two hydrants to tackle the fire.
“All persons were accounted for.
“As of 6.29am all firefighting operations were complete.
“A re-inspection has taken place this morning.
“The cause of the fire is being investigated.
“Sussex Police were also in attendance.”
