A Turkish restaurant is planning to open a new eatery in the unit next door where a games lounge operated until last year.
Efes Town restaurant, which currently operates from 18-20 Portland Road, Worthing, has applied to take over the former Dice Board Game Lounge next door.
The games lounge closed in July last year, citing increasing costs and a “tough trading environment”.
Efes Town, which also has a branch in Clifton Road, has applied for planning permission to convert the games lounge into a restaurant, and install external ducting.
The plans show a standalone restaurant with 38 covers and a kitchen.
The application, written by Advance Architecture, says the new restaurant will employ five full time and three part time staff.
It says: “The proposed changes will result in additional employment to the new premises. This is beneficial for the local job seekers and will support the local employment.
“The premises causes no harm to the adjoining properties and intend to benefit the immediate and wider surrounding area by increasing the job positions and the visitors of the area.”
A spokesman for Efes Town said it was still finalising details of how the new restaurant would operate.
