An 82-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car outside a shopping centre in Eastbourne.
The man was hit by a silver Toyota Yaris in Willingdon Drove near the junction with Friday Street, opposite the Langney Shopping Centre, just after 5.20pm yesterday.
The car was travelling east. Its driver, a 64-year-old man, was not injured.
Police today appealed for witnesses to the crash or anyone with dashcam, CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage from the area at the time to come forward
The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving, and drug-driving. He has been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.
