A memorial is to be held in honour of Chichester District Council’s senior community warden, who died in October.
Declan Moody, who was fondly known as a ‘gentle giant’, had been part of the community warden scheme since it started in 2005.
His high-visibility jacket and stature made him an instantly recognisable figure around the council offices and throughout the city centre.
During a meeting of the full council on Tuesday (November 19), chairman Clare Apel announced that a memorial would be held in the Guildhall, in Priory Park, on Friday November 29 from noon until 2pm.
She added: “On behalf of the council, I’d like to send our condolences to Declan’s family, friends and colleagues, and let them know we are thinking of them at this time.
“I’ll miss him tremendously.
“He was a constant reassuring presence around East Pallant House and the city centre – a real gentle giant who was loved and respected by all those who knew him.”
