Southern Water has been carrying out emergency repair work after a sewage leak in Shoreham over the weekend.
The company tweeted yesterday (Saturday 2 November): “We’re sorry for any disruption you may experience while we deal with a burst wastewater pipe in Victoria Road, in Shoreham, near to Ropetackle.
“Temporary traffic signals will be in place while our engineers carry out essential repair work – tankers will be in the area.”
Engineers were due to reline the burst pipe to try to prevent a repeat of the leak..
It comes after sewage flooded Albion Street, in Southwick, last weekend – a problem that Southern Water was the result of a mechanical fault.
On Monday (28 October), the company said sorry to the people affected by the sewage, including the smell.
It said that work had gone on through the night to fix the problem and clear the mess.
