Popular Sussex village pub has reopened

The Bax Castle on Two Mile Ash Road, Southwater, has been undergoing refurbishment since before Christmas and has now reopened.

The building dates from the 15th century and is a former weaver’s cottage belonging to a Mr Bax, after whom the pub is named.

The Bax Castle Facebook page said about the reopening: “The entire Bax Family is looking forward to welcoming you in for a drink or some food.

“We’d like to thank all the people who have helped with the works that have been happening from friends and family to the professional tradesmen. (Keep and eye out when our website goes live for the full details and contacts of the trades that have helped)

“We’d also like to thank all the locals, dog walkers, cyclists, walkers, passers by and general enquirers for your support, interest and taking the time to stop and chat and listen to us waffle on about what’s been happening.

“Whilst we set up our online booking system please do contact us on 01403 730 369 for all booking enquiries

“Come see our new beer, wine and spirits range and find your new favourite. We are excited about the range and hope you will be too.

“Our Chef has created a completely new food menu, which we hope you like. We look forward to welcoming you!”
