A serial shoplifter who assaulted a security guard has been jailed for a year.
Amy Jones, 31, admitted 18 counts of shoplifting and one of assault at shops in Worthing, Shoreham and Hove.
From July to September, she stole more than £2,000 worth of stock. The assault took place at Marks and Spencer in Montague Street, Worthing, on 10 July.
Sergeant Sam Milsom said: “We take shoplifting very seriously and those who think they can get away with it will be sentenced.
“The team worked really hard to collate all of the incidents and this wouldn’t have happened without their persistence.”
