A man has appeared in court on charges of raping and trying to rape a 17-year-old boy last Friday (30 January), police said today (Wednesday 4 February).
The attack was alleged to have taken place at around midnight at an address in St Leonards, Sussex Police said.
A security camera image of the suspect was shared promptly through the media, leading to the man being identified.
The force said: “Officers launched an investigation and arrested a man on Monday 2 February.
“Glen Hodgins, 38, of Chapel Park Road, St Leonards, was charged with the rape and attempted rape of a male aged 16 or over.
“He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 4 February and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Wednesday 4 March.”
Detective Inspector Carol Shoesmith said: “Since we received the report of this incident, we have been working tirelessly to identify a suspect, arrest them and collate evidence to support our investigation and the court proceedings.
“We understand the strength it takes for victims to come forward to report such offences.
“The victim continues to receive specialist support as this case progresses.
“I’d like to again share my thanks to the public for their support sharing our appeal to assist in the ongoing investigation.”
