A jury found a woman not guilty of drug dealing charges after a two-week trial.

Cara Foxwell, 25, of Silverlands Road, St Leonards, and formerly of Shakespeare Road, Worthing, was charged by detectives who were investigating a county lines drug supply operation.

Foxwell was also charged with offences under the Modern Slavery Act.

Richard Hearnden, prosecuting, told the jury that she had arranged or facilitated the travel of two people with the view to their being exploited.

She denied the charges and barrister Harry Macdonald defended her during a two-week trial before Judge Stephen Mooney at Lewes Crown Court from Monday 17 August to Friday 28 August.

Detective Chief Inspector Kay Hutchings said: “I commend everyone involved in the investigation of this case for their hard work and dedication.

“Officers worked tirelessly to thoroughly investigate this case and present it to the court and we respect the decision of the jury.

“We will remain committed to pursuing and investigating ‘county lines’ drug supply and safeguarding young and vulnerable people from exploitation.”
