A shopping centre which closed after a panel fell from its roof will stay shut until Monday (20 July) at the earliest.
No one was hurt when the panel dropped from the roof of the Swan Walk Shopping Centre, in Horsham, on Wednesday (11 July).
The shopping centre’s bosses said that the temporary closure was a precaution while they carried out safety checks.
In a statement, they said: “The safety of visitors, tenants and staff remains our highest priority.”
Yesterday, they said: “Swan Walk Shopping Centre will remain temporarily closed over the weekend while specialist inspections and assessments continue following the recent roof panel incident.
“We appreciate this is an inconvenience to shoppers and our tenants and thank them for their patience and understanding.
“We are working with specialist contractors to establish the cause of the incident and will reopen the centre as soon as it is safe to do so.”
The car park is still open and an update is due to be given on Monday.
