Lamborghini driver jailed after being caught over the limit again

Matthew Morgan

A Lamborghini driver has been jailed after being caught over the limit while banned although he said that he “shouldn’t even be in custody”.

Matthew Morgan, 45, was arrested in The Boulevard, Crawley, at about 6.45pm on Saturday 17 January after a tip-off that he was drink driving.

Morgan, who was at the wheel of a blue Lamborghini Urus, failed a roadside breath test.

Despite pleading his innocence, Morgan was found to have 89 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Sussex Police said: “Inquiries revealed he was disqualified from driving, having already been convicted of drink driving in Surrey less than two years previously.

“He was subsequently arrested and charged with drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving while uninsured.”

Morgan, of Crumps Lane, Ulcombe, near Maidstone, Kent, pleaded guilty to all three offences when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday 19 January.

The magistrates jailed Morgan for three years and banned him from driving for 74 months and ordered him to pay a £154 victim surcharge.

Sussex Police added: “If you know someone is driving while over the limit or after taking drugs, call 999.

“You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or report it online.”
