A man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after another man died, having been assaulted in a pub.
Sussex Police said this afternoon (Wednesday 31 December): “Police were called to a report of an assault at the Heath Tavern in Sussex Road, Haywards Heath, at about 10.50pm on Monday (29 December).
“A 63-year-old man was treated by paramedics and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
“Sadly, he was later pronounced deceased.
“His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
“Officers are investigating the circumstances and we can confirm that a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
“He remains in custody at this time.
“Witnesses or anyone with information can report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1364 of 29/12.”
