A four-year-old is in hospital being treated for her injuries after being hit by a car in Newhaven yesterday afternoon (Monday 30 June).
The accident happened shortly before the evening rush-hour on the C7 Lewes Road, just north of the A259 North Way to Valley Road.
The road was shut in both directions after the crash.
The girl was flown by air ambulance to King’s College Hospital, London, for treatment.
Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called to a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Lewes Road, Newhaven, at around 4.30pm on Monday (30 June).
“A four-year-old girl was taken to hospital and is being treated for her injuries.
“A section of the road was closed which has since reopened.
“We ask that anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any relevant information such as CCTV or dashcam footage reports it to us.
“Email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting Operation Buttercup.”
