Man suffers serious injuries in A259 hit and run

A crash involving a lorry and a motorbike at lunchtime today (Wednesday 25 June) left an A road closed.

Sussex Police described the crash on the A281 Brighton Road, Shermanbury, just north of Henfield, as a “serious collision”.

The crash is understood to have happened close to the corner of the B2116 Partridge Green Road.

The A281 Brighton Road was closed between Shermanbury Road, the private road to Shermanbury Grange, in the south and Woodside Close, at the northern end of the village.

The B2116 Partridge Green Road was closed between the A281 and Littleworth Lane, in Partridge Green, to the west.

Sussex Police appealed for witnesses and footage but gave no details of the make, model or colour of either vehicle, the driver or rider or their direction of travel before the crash.

The force said: “Emergency services have responded to a serious collision in Shermanbury, involving a motorcycle and lorry.

“The collision happened in Brighton Road, Shermanbury, on Wednesday 25 June just before 12.30pm.

“Police are appealing for witnesses to call 101 and anyone with dashcam footage to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting Operations Shipment.”
