Man charged with bank burglary

A man has been charged with burgling a bank and will spend Christmas and the new year behind bars as he awaits a hearing before a crown court judge.

Marc Tatnell is charged with breaking into the Halifax branch, in Terminus Road, Eastbourne, last week and stealing £80.

Tatnell was also charged with damaging a cash machine when he appeared before Brighton magistrates last Friday (13 December).

He was refused bail, in part because of the nature and seriousness of the offence.

Sussex Police said yesterday (Thursday 19 December): “Police have charged a man following a burglary at an Eastbourne bank.

“Marc Tatnell, 44, of no fixed address, has been charged with burglary following the incident which took place at a bank in Terminus Road, Eastbourne, around 1am on Wednesday 11 December.

“Cash was stolen and equipment was damaged.

“Tatnell has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at a court to be fixed on Friday 10 January to answer the charges.

“Witnesses or anyone with any information or footage is asked to contact police online or call 101, quoting serial 42 of 11/12.”
