Two NHS surgeries are set to be purchased for about £1.8million by Worthing Borough Council.
The Shelley Road and Heene Road surgeries are to be bought by the council as part of the Worthing Integrated Health Centre (WICC) project, with the centre due to open this Autumn.
Funds for the purchase will come from the council’s strategic property investment fund, according to a decision published by the council on its website.
Shelley Road will cost the council £1,228,500 and Heene Road will cost £531,300, excluding VAT, with both sites to be redeveloped and sold for affordable housing.
In its decision, the council said the likelihood of redevelopment would be ‘limited’ if the council did not purchase, and the financial viability would be ‘less favourable’.
If the sale is not called in for scrutiny by a member of the council before September 30, the decision on the sale will come into effect on October 1.
