A retired pensioner has been charged with sexually abusing a boy under 16 and a young man, Sussex Police said today (Thursday 26 September).
The force said: “A man has been charged with historic sexual offences in Hastings.
“Two victims, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, separately reported their experiences to Sussex Police and are not known to each other.
“The investigations relate to sexual offences by Keith Chaplin on a boy under 16 and a young man in the town in the 1990s and 2000s.
“Chaplin was arrested and, following an investigation by the Hastings Community Investigation Team, has been charged with four offences.
“These are indecent assault on a boy under the age of 16 and three counts of sexual assault on a male.
“Chaplin, 76, formerly an electrician of Kingsley Close, St Leonards, will appear before Hastings Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 23 October to answer the charges.”
