A developer has submitted detailed plans for 1,500 homes on the old Ford Airfield to Arun District Council.
Outline plans for up to 1,500 homes on the former airfield site were approved by the council’s planning committee in April 2022, with the recent reserved matters application detailing plans for 697 homes in two phases.
Another application is seeking approval for the infrastructure needed to support the new homes.
If approved, this would include a new north-south spine road, footpaths and cyclepaths, public open spaces, bus stops, sewage and surface water infrastructure, play spaces and acoustic fencing.
According to the plans, the two phases will include around 30 per cent affordable housing and include a mix of 54 one-bed, 154 two-bed, 320 three-bed, 156 four-bed and 12 five-bed homes, with only 340 homes as part of phase one being submitted for approval so far.
The developer Vistry Group and housing provider Abri bought the site in a joint venture in March, and are moving ahead with the approved plans previously submitted by Redrow Homes and Westgate Developments.
A decision on the latest applications is due from the council by Wednesday 11 December.
