One man has been charged with raping a woman in Crawley in the early hours of Saturday (21 September) and a second man has been released on police bail.
Sussex Police said that officers responded to a report of a woman being raped near Broadfield Barton and later a branch of Poundland in the area was cordoned off with police tape.
The force said earlier today (Monday 23 September): “A man has been charged with rape following an incident in Crawley.
“Police responded to a report of a rape of a woman in the vicinity of Broadfield Barton, Crawley, shortly after 4am on Saturday 21 September.
“The victim was safely located and is being supported by specialist officers.
“Hyusein Hyusein, 31, of Grand Bay, Broadfield Barton, Crawley, was arrested and has now been charged with three counts of rape.
“He is remanded in custody.
“He is due to appear before Crawley Magistrates’ Court later today.
“Another man, 30, was also arrested on suspicion of rape.
“He has been released on bail, under investigation.
“Anyone with any information about the incident, including any relevant CCTV, mobile or dashcam footage, is urged to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 215 of 21/09.”
