A man has been arrested after a brawl on the pier in Bognor yesterday evening.

The 32-year-old was held on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Sussex Police issued an appeal for witnesses, footage and information as they continue to investigate what happened.

The force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a large-scale disturbance in Bognor.

“Officers were called to a report of a group of people fighting with weapons on the pier, The Esplande, at around 6.50pm on Sunday (31 March).

“It is believed a man suffered a serious injury during the incident, but he has not yet been identified.

“A 32-year-old man, from Bognor, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

“He remains in custody at this time.”

Detective Inspector Gary Jacobs said: “There were a number of witnesses who believe a man suffered a serious injury during this incident.

“We want to locate the victim to ensure they are getting the right treatment.

“This is thought to be an isolated incident between people who were known to each other and does not pose a threat to the wider community.

“We would encourage anyone with any dash cam footage or CCTV to come forward to help us with this ongoing investigation.

“Witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to contact Sussex Police online or call 101 quoting serial 920 of 31/03.”

Personally I don’t know what the police actually do these days…..been told they don’t have the power to recover stolen property!! Forgive my ignorance but isn’t crime the reason the police exist, theft is a crime is it not?!?! Go give yourselves a pat on the back for doing f*** all….while the public do your job for you, wether it be reporting traffic violations are recovering their own stolen property!
