Public appeal to find pub sex assault suspect pays off

A public appeal to identify a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman has paid off within days.

Sussex News was one of a number of news publishers to share an appeal and the photo of the suspect on Saturday (30 December).

The sexual assault was alleged to have taken place at the Three Fishes, a Wetherspoons pub, in mid-October.

This morning (Wednesday 3 January), Sussex Police said: “Police investigating a report of a sexual assault in Worthing have identified a man who may be able to help with their inquiries.

“A CCTV image was published on Saturday (30 December) to identify a man at the Three Fishes, in Chapel Road, on the night of Saturday 14 October.

“Officers have now identified the individual. We can confirm no arrests have been made at this time.

“The investigation is ongoing after a woman reported being sexually assaulted in the pub between 11.30pm and 12.45am on Sunday 15 October.

“If you have any information that could help, please contact police online or via 101, quoting serial 47230205217.”
