Police are trying to trace the driver of a black Mercedes car after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a hit and run yesterday evening (Friday 10 July).
Sussex Police said this morning: “We are investigating a serious collision on the A27 at Fontwell yesterday.
“The collision involved a motorcycle and a black Mercedes at about 6pm on Friday 10 July.
“The rider of the motorcycle sustained a serious injury requiring hospital treatment.
“The driver of the black Mercedes did not remain at the scene.
“Officers have thanked members of the public who did stop to assist the injured rider until emergency services arrived.
“Officers are investigating and are appealing for witnesses.
“In particular, they wish to trace anyone in the area at the time with relevant dashcam footage of the incident or of the vehicles in the area at the time.
