Council approves layout for 61 new houses

The layout of 62 homes planned for Storrington has been approved by Horsham District Council.

An application to build on land north of Downsview Avenue was approved in 2020, while its scale and design was given the thumbs-up by the planning committee on Tuesday (September 17).

The committee asked for a couple of changes to be made – for better pedestrian access to the site by creating a gap in a hedge which will run alongside the development; and for a management plan dealing with the surfacing of the footpath to be submitted and approved.

The council received 46 letters objecting to the plans, with concerns raised including the quality of the design of the homes, the density, and the impact on air quality.

The application from Croudace Homes Ltd was approved by eight votes to two with two abstentions.

The development will be made up of eight one-bedroom flats, 14 two-bedroom houses, eight two-bedroom flats, 18 three-bedroom houses and 14 four-bed houses.

Twenty-two homes will be classed as affordable.
