A burglar or burglars stole jewellery and other items in a series of break-ins which are believed to be linked.
Sussex Police said: “We are appealing for information to aid inquiries after a series of burglaries in Sussex which are being treated as linked.”
The burglaries took place at properties across West Sussex from Tuesday 13 October and Thursday 15 October.
The first break-in happened in Lurgshall, Petworth, at around 1pm on Tuesday 13 October.
Addresses in Church Lane, Horsted Keynes, near Haywards Heath, and Horsham Road, Steyning, were burgled between 8pm and 9pm on the same day.
And another raid was reported to have happened in Stall House Lane, North Heath, Pulborough, between 7pm and 8pm on Thursday 15 October.
Police added: “During all four burglaries, the properties had been broken into via a first-floor window and a number of items including jewellery were taken from the addresses.
“Officers are conducting ongoing investigations and encourage anyone who has any information which could aid inquiries to report it to us online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Summit.
“Tips to prevent potential break ins
- ensure all windows and doors are secured on all levels of your home when not in use
- consider fitting sash stops and key operated locks and ensure they are secured whenever the window is not in use
- motion-sensor external lights can startle and help to deter potential burglars
- consider motion-sensor cameras which can connect to a smart phone to alert you to any potential intruders
- instal an accredited burglar alarm system with sensors on the upper floors of your home (and) ensure it’s audible and mounted in a high place to prevent tampering
- signage of an installed alarm system can also deter potential burglars
- store valuables including high-value jewellery in a wall or floor mounted, fire-rated safe
“If you see anything suspicious, report it to us by calling 101. In an emergency or if a burglary is taking place, always call 999.”
