A fire has damaged a property in a village near where a train derailed a week and a half ago.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to an address in Cooksbridge Road, Cooksbridge, near Lewes, shortly before 10pm last night (Sunday 23 August).
The fire service said that six fire appliances were sent to the scene, adding: “Firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus and fighting the fire with three main jets and one hose reel jet.”
At 11pm, the fire service issued an update, saying: “Firefighters have been withdrawn from the building and the incident is being scaled down.”
By 1.30am, the fire service said: “Crews are monitoring the scene and checking for hotspots.”
And at 6am, the fire service said: “Crews left the scene at 3.26am. They are due to reinspect the property at 6.30am.”
