Man suffers serious injuries in A259 hit and run

The A27 has reopened after a crash between Falmer and Lewes last night (Sunday 12 April).

A 22-year-old woman from Brighton suffered serious injuries in the crash and her passenger, a 41-year-old man, also from Brighton, was also taken to hospital for treatment.

The blue Volkswagen Golf crashed just after 8pm as it was heading towards Lewes between the B2123 Falmer turn-off and the A277 Kingston turn-off at the Ashcombe roundabout.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the accident which left oil spilt across the road.

Sussex Police said: “The female driver of the vehicle has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. The male sole passenger was taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries.
