A pedestrian died in a crash on the A27 late last night (Friday 3 April), Sussex Police said this morning.

The Good Friday crash happened on the A27 Arundel Road, Angmering, at about 10.40pm.

The force said: “Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Angmering.

“Emergency services were called to the A27, Arundel Road, at around 10.40pm, on Friday 3 April, following reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.

“A 20-year-old local man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

“The westbound carriageway, which was closed for several hours, has since reopened.”

Sussex Police urged witnesses to come forward, including “anyone who saw the pedestrian in the immediate area of the A27, Arundel Road, at Hammerpot, at around 10:40pm”.

Police also asked for anyone who saw the crash itself or who had dashcam footage that could help their investigation to come forward and make contact.

Sussex Police added: “Information can be reported by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting Operation Newgate.”
