A cyclist has died after a crash involving a car last night.
Sussex Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision involving a cyclist on the A286, Easebourne, north of Midhurst, on Friday night (7 November).
“The incident happened approximately 500 metres south of the crossroads with King’s Drive.
“The cyclist, a 21-year man, from Haslemere, Surrey, was seriously injured and was taken to hospital after being found lying in the road at 8.47pm.
“Sadly, he has since died at hospital on Saturday morning.
“While at the scene of the incident, police were given information about a silver BMW motor car that was identified as possibly involved in the collision and a 21-year-old local man was subsequently arrested.
“He has now been further arrested for causing death by dangerous driving and other offences relating to the collision.
“The silver BMW has been located and recovered.
“He remains in police custody while the investigation continues into the circumstances.”
Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin said: “We are appealing for witnesses, and dashcam footage, including anyone who may have seen a silver BMW in the area around the time of the collision, to email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Plumpton.”
