Jessica Winter drops new single ahead of debut album and UK tour

Jessica Winter is a British singer, songwriter, and producer known for her experimental pop music that blends elements from various genres, including pop, industrial, and indie. Often compared to the likes of Kylie, Robyn, and Grimes, to date, Jessica has released a series of EPs, including ‘Limerence’ (2023), ‘More Sad Music’ (2021), and ‘Sad Music’ (2020), each showcasing her ability to infuse unconventional themes and introspective lyrics into pop song structures.

Today, Tuesday 8th July, Jessica Winter releases her sensational new single ‘Big Star’, out now via Lucky Number. ‘Big Star’ is the fifth single taken from Jessica’s upcoming debut album, ‘My First Album’, which is set for release this week on Friday 11th July. The music video for ‘Big Star’ was directed by Roger Spy and is available to watch HERE.

On ‘Big Star’, Jessica creates a soon-to-be iconic cult pop anthem. Channeling 00s aesthetics and addictive dance-pop beats, the new single is endlessly addictive. Relentlessly inventive, with her new single Jessica does what she has done for her whole career and takes a multitude of influences and stamps her unique, unmistakable ‘Jessica Winter’ sound across them.

Jessica Winter’s forthcoming ‘My First Album’

“This song sums up the album for me, perhaps it’s a reminder to anyone on their quest for fame and fortune to remember that you are who you are, and you don’t have to be on a huge stage with loads of people applauding or liking you on socials to have real value in this life. Perhaps it’s an expose on living a life in this industry which is all about making it and all about your success moments, but we have success moments everyday depending on how you look at it. The way I constructed ‘My First Album’ wasn’t with the intention of major cosigns and celebrity, I wanted to create something authentically me that allowed for exposure and vulnerability and I believe I have achieved that.”

Jessica will play multiple in-store live dates to celebrate the release of ‘My First Album’, playing Rough Trade East this Friday, followed by a live set and signing here in Brighton at Resident from 6:30pm (Tickets HERE).

After these Jessica will be heading off to Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool and, right near her hometown of Portsmouth, with a Southsea date. Lucky for us in Brighton, Jessica will be returning on Sunday 26th October when she plays at the Dust venue in East Street – Ticket options for this concert can be located HERE. All concert dates and details can be found below, and tickets can be purchased HERE.

‘My First Album’, which can be pre-ordered HERE, is Jessica’s long-awaited debut album following multiple years of critical acclaim. To date, Jessica has been featured and supported by the likes of The New York Times, GQ, Dazed, Rolling Stone US, Rolling Stone UK, The Guardian, The Times, CLASH, Dork, DIY, The Forty-Five, NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Gay Times, Loud And Quiet and of course Brighton & Hove News. She has also been well supported across BBC Radio 1 and 6Music.

On ‘My First Album’ there are shades of Kylie Minogue and the glitter of 80s Madonna, there’s the flamboyance of Prince and Queen and there’s energy and occasional snarl of punk and the dreamy arched-eyebrow of psychedelia. Jessica has to date released four singles from the album, ‘L.O.V.E.’, ‘All I Ever Really Wanted’, ‘Wannabe’, ‘Aftersun’, and ‘Big Star’.

In addition to her solo projects, Winter has an extensive list of credits as a co-writer and producer, having collaborated with artists like The Horrors, The Big Moon, Jazmin Bean, Phoebe Green, Lauren Auder, Pre Goblin, Sundara Karma, Walt Disco, and Brodka.
