A chain of Sussex restaurants is planning on opening its newest branch in Arundel early next year.
Jonny’s already operates in Worthing and Goring, and has now signed a lease on the former Thai Time restaurant in Arundel’s High Street.
Owner Jonathan Abrahams originally wanted to open in autumn, but the opening date has now been pushed back to Thursday, 9 January.
Announcing the opening on Instagram earlier this year, Mr Abrahams said: “A huge thanks to my brilliant team who work tirelessly day in day out to deliver fantastic food and service to our wonderful customers and have given me the confidence to grow the business.
“We are looking forward to delighting the people of Arundel with our great breakfasts, lunches, extensive wines, superb cocktails and evening small plates.”
A planning application has just been registered to put up three signs on the listed building. Arun Conservation Panel has raised no objection to the signs, but has asked that the windowframes, which have recently been painted dark grey, should be returned to the original white colour.
It says: “Although not strictly connected with this application, the panel considers the recent painting of the ground floor windows and doorcase in dark blue/grey detracts from the appearance of this Grade II* listed building.
“It introduces a discordant theme in what is an imposing, symmetrical and regular Georgian facade and the windows need to be repainted white to match those in the floors above.”
