West Sussex County Council has submitted more than 270 documents to the Care Quality Commission in preparation for a coming assessment.

The Commission regulates all health and social care services in England and is expected to visit the council within the next six months.

During a meeting of the full council, Amanda Jupp, cabinet member for adults services, said the adult social care team had put together 271 documents across 38 categories.

On top of that, 75 case studies are being prepared concerning people who use the services, with 50 to be submitted to the Commission.

And a self-assessment has been updated and sent through, containing things of which the team is proud, things that they have to work on, and things that they still need to do.

Mrs Jupp said: “We wait to see how things progress and when we get the call for the visit.”

She was full of praise for the staff, who have had to put everything together while continuing with business as usual.

She added: “The adult social care team worked really hard on this, led by Alan Sinclair, and I’m very proud of what they’ve done.”

Nine care assessments have been published nationwide since they started in 2023.
