Four fire engines were sent to tackle a blaze at a home in Hailsham last night (Friday 18 October).
The fire service said last night: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called at 9.08pm this evening (Friday 18 October) to reports of a fire at a domestic property in Saxon Close, Hailsham.
“Four fire engines have been sent to the scene with firefighters from Herstmonceux, Pevensey and Eastbourne currently in attendance.
“Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and local residents to keep windows and doors closed.”
Later, the fire service added: “Firefighters have been using four breathing apparatus and one hosereel jet to extinguish the fire.
“As of 10.12pm crews are damping down and turning over to ensure the fire is completely out.
“There are no casualties reported.”
