Plans are in the pipeline to convert a Chichester office block into 60 flats.
A prior approval application has been submitted to Chichester District Council regarding The Atrium, on Stockbridge Road.
Under the government’s permitted development rights scheme, no planning permission is needed for such a change.
The prior approval notification is there to make sure the change would be suitable and that the council has no valid concerns to halt the process.
A statement submitted with the application from Olive Homes (Southern) Ltd said: “The existing building is readily adaptable to residential use.
“The provision of parking and other technical constraints are already in place for the current use, enabling a seamless conversion to a residential use.
“We believe that the proposed change of use will deliver 60 new residential units within a sustainable location, and will help to offset the pressure on edge of city and greenfield sites within the district.”
