Plans to install 68 solar panels on the roof of Harting Community Hall have been approved.
The application for the hall in Pease Croft, South Harting, was given the nod by Chichester District Council.
As well as the panels, an air source heat pump will be installed, along with two electric vehicle charging points and a bicycle rack in the car park area.
A design statement submitted with the application explained the need for the panels.
It said: “The hall, like many community buildings, faces ongoing problems to remain sustainable in the current economic situation, coupled
with an urgent need to become carbon neutral as quickly as possible.
“The costs, in particular, of electricity, have proved to be
a considerable challenge.
“The village has a strong community and they are looking to find ways to tackle the problems of keeping the doors of the hall open to as many users as possible, while also efficiently covering rising costs.”
