A developer has put forward revised proposals for a housing development in North Chailey.
In an application validated by Lewes District Council earlier this month, a developer is seeking “permission in principle” to build nine new homes on land to the east of Coldharbour Lane.
The application appears to follow on from previous plans to build 18 ‘affordable entry-level’ homes on the same site, which were dismissed at appeal in 2022.
At the time, the developer behind this earlier scheme had argued the site was in a “sustainable location” where housing should be approved. The appeal inspector had several concerns about the proposals, however, including its sustainability, layout and impact on the character and appearance of the area.
The current application is still at an early stage, with only a few technical drawings having been uploaded to the council’s planning portal. These appear to show the same site boundary as the previous proposals.
At time of publication, it is unclear whether the same developer is behind both proposals, although the two schemes do share the same agent.
