Improvements to an East Grinstead recreation ground are to be considered by Mid Sussex District Council’s planning committee.
The application for Mount Noddy includes new footpaths to improve accessibility across the site, an area for petanque (boules) and a youth zone within the existing redundant tennis courts.
As the council is the applicant, the plans cannot be dealt with by officers but will be put to the planning committee on Thursday (August 15).
If approved, three unused tennis courts will be refurbished to form the youth zone, which will include a basketball court, timber benches, steel cycle stands, a basket swing, rope hammock and table tennis tables.

Why are the tennis courts unused?
The ground levels in the actual park are very uneven and dangerous. The play equipment needs to be improved as in the park in Lingfield Road. If new pathways are being built could the play park be extended, as it is small considering the size of the grounds, and new paths to go around. The youth do need somewhere to go but if this is unsupervised my fear is that it will become an anti social area. It is also close to housing.
So pleased to see the development of a youth Zone in the old tennis court area, as well as the new revamped tennis court. Since the council agreed to leave the old tennis court unlocked earlier this year, it has been great to see young children riding bikes and scooters in there as well as teens playing football. Previously is was very under utilised. Table tennis tables would be very welcome.
