Serious rail disruption in West Sussex today

Sussex railway services will be affected by a landslip that has damaged the track between Redhill and Tonbridge.

No trains will run between these stations until at least Monday, 15 April and there may be disruption beyond this point.

Network Rail engineers are working on-site to stabilise the landslip and they say they will provide further updates over the course of the next week.

According to National Rail: “Urgent repairs to a landslip between Edenbridge and Tonbridge are taking place, meaning all lines are closed between Redhill and Tonbridge.

“Buses will replace trains between Redhill and Tonbridge. Train services between these stations will be cancelled.

“Disruption is expected until at least Sunday 14 April.”

A replacement bus service will run along the whole route, as below:

  • Redhill – Stopping outside the main station entrance on Princess Way.
  • Nutfield – Stopping on the A25 at the Nutfield Memorial Hall (please note this is just over 1 mile north of the station).
  • Godstone – Stopping on Eastbourne Road, near The Lagham pub (near the Platform 2 side of the station).
  • Edenbridge Town, for Uckfield Line train connections – Stopping outside the station ticket office.
  • Edenbridge – Stopping on the station forecourt on Albion Way, at the north side of the station.
  • Penshurst – Stopping outside the station, near The Little Brown Jug pub.
  • Leigh – Stopping outside the Fleur de Lis pub on the High Street.
  • Tonbridge – Stopping outside the front of the station.
